Our Mission
Nordic City Network is a Think Tank of urban and regional planners and others, dedicated to developing Nordic cities as attractive, innovative and competitive Knowledge Cities.
The Nordic countries have moved from the industrial society into the knowledge society, where the creation and use of knowledge is the main asset and competitive factor. Cities are the motors of development and it is therefore of uttermost importance to plan, structure and govern cities in ways appropriate to Knowledge Society. In other words: Nordic cities need to be Knowledge Cities!
The form and structure of the Knowledge City is different from that of the industrial city, therefore new approaches to urban planning and urban design are needed.
Nordic City Network is a common forum for developing a better understanding of how a Nordic knowledge city functions, and what type of urban development initiatives that are needed to strengthen our cities as knowledge cities.
