Urban campus
Developing an urban campus through cooperation in Trondheim
The pilot project’s starting point is an empty plot where everyone has different ideas about what should be built - but no-one has the money to do it. The empty plot is situated right next to the heart of Trondheim’s student milieu, the vibrant and nationally renowned student house 'Samfundet'. Strategically situated within walking distance from the city centre, the university campus and an innovative health cluster, the area is essential for integrating important knowledge intensive institutions with each other – and with the city as a whole.
The pilot project explores how new approaches to cooperation can open up possibilities for attracting building investments, for sharing facilities and premises across institutional barriers and for creating a highly integrated, urban campus. The university, university college, student society, student welfare organization and municipality are key stakeholders in this process.
