STRAKKS
Strategies for urban development in medium-sized Nordic knowledge towns

The "urban laboratories" in Aalborg represents the city's complexity and diversity at different levels. Each lab has a strategic position in the city itself, but especially in the context of the other laboratories that may contribute to Aalborg as a knowledge city.
The "urban laboratories" are located in the city's downtown and in close proximity to each other. This way, they share main challenges and potentials.

On the 23rd of September 2010 the municipality of Skedsmo – in collaboration with the partner city Aalborg - hosted a big conference, which marked the first phase of the EU funded project STRAKKS. The conference attracted approximately 150 different people (planners, politicians and people from the private sector) across Denmark, Sweden and Norway: Aalborg, Copenhagen, Malmø, Trondheim, Tromsø and the wider Oslo region. The purpose of the conference was to present the very different perspectives related to knowledge city development including understanding the new social context in which this development takes place.
